On May 3rd, FLO hosted the annual Information Literacy meeting at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. This year’s topic was Information Literacy and Artificial Intelligence.
Keynote speaker Jessica Condlin of Lesley University presented about generative AI and Large Language Models, exploring bias awareness, misinformation, and the many opportunities and challenges that these emerging technologies present to higher education. In the following workshop, attendees practiced creating a variety of prompts with different AI tools and explored the results together.
After the workshop, Callie Cherry (Wentworth Institute of Technology), Alexis Dhembe (FLO), and Kat Good-Schiff (Springfield Technical Community College) gave short lightning talks about uses for and evaluation of AI tools with users at their institutions, as well as some of the downsides of AI.
Slides from all presentations are available on the Communities of Interest page.
We would like to recognize and thank MCPHS for hosting the event and all speakers, attendees, and the planning committee for their contributions.
